WHAT IS A CAW ?

The CAW, Company of Adapted Work (in the past called SHELTERED WORKSHOP), manufacturing unit of goods or services, employs handicapped people for whom this type of company constitutes, temporarily or definitively a tool of energization and social advancement.

To remain, the CAW must be maintained in the good commercial crenels and adapt permanently to the requirements of the market; which requires more and more to know faire.
The CAW in Walloon Area, have all, several spheres of activities passing from the craft industry to the advanced technologies. Several among conclude from the contracts of industrial subcontracting or supply of products.  The CAW must constantly maintain a balance between the social aspect and the economic aspect .

More and more of CAW work of subcontracting to the centre even of the companies customer carries out. They conclude a contract from company with their customer, this one must nevertheless be the subject of a preliminary authorization of the AWIPH, subsidizing authority.

Some CAW work for their own account, which requires an investment in the field of marketing and implies the management of the entirety of the production process. Often, this option is only partial, the CAW working at the same time in subcontracting and clean production. From the economic point of view, the CAW is confronted with the reduction of the profit margins, the modification of structrure of the costs and new management sciences like the "just in time".
